We're musicians and builders ourselves, and we understand that earning a customer's trust doesn't end when an order ships. If you have a question or concern, we encourage you to contact us. Most issues can be resolved quickly, and we're committed to treating every customer fairly.

We stand behind the products we make and want you to shop with confidence. If something isn't right with your order, we'll do our best to make it right. If you receive the wrong product, an item arrives damaged or defective, or an unopened item is not what you expected, please contact us so we can help.

This Returns and Exchanges Policy explains which products are eligible,
how to begin a return, and what to expect once your return is received.

Please contact us before sending anything back. Returns sent without
authorization may be delayed or refused.

1. Return Window

Eligible products may be returned within 30 days of the date your order
was delivered.

To qualify for a return, you must contact us within the 30-day return
period and follow the return instructions we provide.

Returns requested after the return period may be declined unless the
product is defective or applicable law requires otherwise.

2. Return Eligibility

To be eligible for a standard return, an item must be:

  • Unused and in its original condition
  • In its original packaging
  • Complete with all included materials and accessories
  • Accompanied by proof of purchase from AmericanString.com
  • Returned according to the instructions provided by our support team

Items showing signs of use, installation, wear, alteration, damage, or
missing packaging may not qualify for a full refund.

3. Guitar Strings

Unopened string sets may be returned within the return period when the
packaging and factory seal remain intact.

Opened, installed, cut, stretched, or played string sets are generally
not returnable because their condition and remaining useful life cannot
be verified.

This restriction does not apply when a string set is damaged, defective,
incorrectly packaged, or different from the product ordered. Please
contact us promptly if you experience a product concern.

4. Apparel and Merchandise

Apparel and merchandise may be returned when unused, unworn, unwashed,
and in their original condition with all original tags and packaging
attached.

Items showing wear, odors, washing, alteration, staining, damage, or
other signs of use may be refused or may receive a reduced refund based
on their condition.

For sizing concerns, please contact us before returning the item so we
can confirm availability of the preferred replacement size.

5. Items That Cannot Be Returned

Unless an item is damaged, defective, or incorrect, the following are
not eligible for return:

  • Opened, installed, cut, stretched, or played string sets
  • Used, worn, washed, or altered apparel
  • Gift cards
  • Digital products or downloadable content
  • Personalized, customized, or special-order products
  • Clearance or final-sale items identified as nonreturnable
  • Promotional items provided at no charge
  • Items purchased from another retailer or marketplace

Products purchased from an authorized dealer must be returned through
that dealer according to its return policy.

6. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

Please inspect your order promptly after delivery. If an item arrives
damaged, appears defective, or is different from what you ordered,
contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Please include:

  • Your order number
  • A description of the issue
  • The product name and gauge, size, or variation
  • Photographs of the product and packaging when helpful

After reviewing the issue, we may provide troubleshooting assistance,
send a replacement, issue a refund, or offer another appropriate
resolution.

When the error is ours or a product is confirmed to be damaged or
defective, American String will cover reasonable return-shipping costs
when a return is required.

7. Exchanges

The fastest way to receive a different product, gauge, size, or style is
generally to place a new order and return the eligible original item for
a refund.

When appropriate and inventory is available, our support team may also
arrange a direct exchange.

Replacement products are not reserved until the exchange has been
approved. Price differences and additional shipping charges may apply
when the replacement item differs in price from the original purchase.

8. How to Begin a Return

Before mailing a return, contact us at:

  • Your name
  • Your order number
  • The item you wish to return
  • The reason for the return
  • Photographs when the item is damaged, defective, or incorrect

If the return is approved, we will provide instructions and the
appropriate return address. Please do not send returns to an address
shown on product packaging or shipping materials unless instructed to
do so.

9. Return Shipping

For standard returns made because you changed your mind, ordered the
wrong item, or no longer want the product, return-shipping costs are the
customer’s responsibility.

Original shipping charges are not refundable unless:

  • American String shipped the wrong item
  • The product arrived damaged or defective
  • The entire order could not be fulfilled or shipped
  • Applicable law requires a refund of those charges

We recommend using a trackable shipping service and retaining the
shipping receipt until your return has been processed. American String
is not responsible for return packages that are lost or damaged before
reaching us.

10. Refunds

Once a return is received, we will inspect the item and notify you
whether the return has been approved.

Approved refunds will generally be issued to the original payment
method. Please allow reasonable processing time after the return arrives.
Your bank or payment provider may require additional time before the
refund appears in your account.

Shipping charges, expedited-shipping charges, gift wrapping, and other
service fees are not refundable unless the return resulted from our
error, the product was damaged or defective, or applicable law requires
otherwise.

11. Item Condition

Returned items must be received in their original condition and packaging.
Items that have been used, worn, installed, altered, or damaged may not
qualify for a refund.

If a returned item is not eligible for a refund, we will contact you before
taking further action.

12. Order Changes and Cancellations

Orders begin processing quickly. Contact us immediately if you need to
change or cancel an order.

We will make a reasonable effort to assist, but we cannot guarantee that
an order can be changed or canceled after it has entered fulfillment or
been shipped.

If the order has already shipped, it will be handled under this Returns
and Exchanges Policy.

13. Promotions, Bundles, and Free Items

When a returned product was purchased as part of a bundle, multi-pack,
promotion, or buy-more-and-save offer, the refund may be adjusted to
reflect the products retained and the terms of the original offer.

If a purchase included a free promotional item, that item must also be
returned in unused condition. If the promotional item is not returned,
its stated or reasonable retail value may be deducted from the refund.

Discount codes and promotional offers are not refundable and have no
cash value.

14. Purchases Made Through Dealers or Marketplaces

This policy applies only to purchases made directly through
AmericanString.com.

Purchases made through a dealer, retailer, online marketplace, affiliate
storefront, or other third party must be returned to the original seller
and are governed by that seller’s return policy.

We remain happy to assist with product questions and potential warranty
or manufacturing concerns.

15. Return Abuse

American String reserves the right to refuse a return, exchange, refund,
or future transaction when we reasonably believe there has been:

  • Fraud or attempted fraud
  • Misrepresentation of a product’s condition
  • Repeated or excessive return activity
  • Abuse of promotions, discounts, referrals, or replacement policies
  • Return of a product not purchased from American String
  • Any other misuse of this policy

This provision will be applied reasonably and does not limit rights that
cannot be waived under applicable law.

16. United States Sales

AmericanString.com currently accepts and fulfills orders only within the
geographic areas shown as available during checkout.

Return eligibility, shipping options, and available remedies may vary
depending on the delivery location and applicable law.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Returns and Exchanges Policy as our products,
fulfillment practices, services, or legal obligations change.

The version in effect on the date of your purchase will generally apply
to that order unless applicable law requires otherwise.
